If you don’t know where you’re going, if you’re feeling defeated, overwhelmed or stuck in a cycle of negativity, if your future feels postponed in perpetuity, take stock of how far you’ve come. Use the positivity of the past to improve the present.
Trace your finger over the trail of your past years – the map of your life so far; the terrain you’ve travelled, the rivers you’ve crossed. Look at all the ground you’ve covered.
Stocktake your blessings, your progress, your points of pride and the pieces of your life that did, in fact, go according to plan. Even the mistakes – and the disguised gifts they offered – are worthy of your gratitude.
Count them out. Turn them over in your palms. Let them reflect back to you all that is good, all that is great, all that is better than it was before.
Pay attention to your progress. Attune yourself to gratitude. Let it soothe the inner strife, the stuckness, the uncertainty, the fear, and the doubt.
Remind yourself that there is still so much to be grateful for, and there is more goodness coming.
Mobilise gratitude and gratitude mobilises you.
