As you stand at the threshold of a brand new year, it brings up all the fresh feels - clean starts, blank slates, new beginnings. For many of us, we sense that our whole year hinges on how we wake up on that first day of the first month of the new year. We’re energised by the formality of that kind of official fresh start.
And so we begin with shimmering intentions rooted in the desire to do better. To be happier. To feel healthier. To live with more purpose. We set our sights on giving up chocolate or taking up yoga or building a business or making a baby or shifting some weight or sitting to meditate. We buy cookbooks or a pair of sneakers or hire a trainer or start a spreadsheet or live on juice for a week.
But for most of us, our resolve fades like a bad dye-job on day 5. We lose sight of our goals. We goof up. We forget why it mattered. We lose touch with our instinct to evolve. We give up. The reason we drop out? We’re not dipping back into those fresh feels often enough.
But rest easy. January 1st doesn’t have a monopoly on fresh starts, yo. Beginning again is always available to you. In fact, every breath is an opportunity to wipe the slate clean and begin anew. The clear mindset and lively energy of a new beginning are always there for the taking. You just need to dip into them on the regular. So, rather than only starting fresh once a year, how about touching base with those fresh feels daily? The best way I know to do that is with a morning ritual.
A morning ritual energises your body and clears your mind. It keeps you in conversation with yourself about what matters most. It’s a reset button. A chance to reorient yourself and shift into alignment. It guides you back to the intentionality and enlivenment of new beginnings and reconnects you to your richest inner resources. A morning ritual allows you to harness the energy of your higher self and yoke it to your deepest desires. Every single day. Not just once a year.
Your ritual doesn’t need to be fancy or take 3 hours. It can be as simple as meditation, gratitude and intention setting. The keys: get quiet, touch base with yourself, connect with that matters most, check in with your goals and intentions. Then go forth and shine, baby, shine.
I know it can be overwhelming to piece together a plan for yourself. So I've done it for you. I created a Morning Ritual to share the most powerful tools I know of in a simple, step-by-step guide.
Plus, I've included a companion High-Vibe Day Planner so you can take your intentions into your day with you. It's a printable planner worksheet that integrates everything from gratitude to your day's to-do list in one neat and tidy little sheet.
These are the tools I personally use to start fresh every morning, which makes for a day, a week, a month and a year of living with intention.
