Let yourself have the moment.

We are so busy being busy. So rushed from all the rushing around. Spread so thin from so much simultaneous doing.

And the (often overlooked but very meaningful) consequence of all that busyness and multitasking and rushing is that we are accidentally denying ourselves the most nourishing aspect of life: presence.

A habitual lack of presence can make life feel wildly exhausting, impossibly overwhelming and deeply unsatisfying. Why? Because presence is the portal through which we access joy, peace, pleasure, connection, and satisfaction. So, by never letting ourselves be fully present, we are suffocating the most meaningful and pleasurable aspects of life.

Next time you’re tempted to overlap two (or more!) activities in the name of productivity, take a breath, wiggle your toes. Land in the moment. There is room to breath and pleasure to receive. It’s yours. Give yourself over to it.

Let yourself have it.

The kiss.
The hot cup of coffee.
The square of chocolate.
The slow morning.
The game of Scrabble.
The walk.
The song.
The weekend paper.
The lunch break.
The phonecall.
The drive.
The pedicure.
The boiling water.
The slicing of onions.

The moment.
Be here with it.
